On The Issues

A message from Mike Collins:
I believe that the school system is the core element which makes Holmdel the town that is today. In a district which is ranked 19 in the state by “New Jersey Monthly” and in the top 500 nationwide by “Newsweek,” there are a lot of issues surrounding the Holmdel Township Public Schools which ensure its greatness.
Our district has stood the test of time and has made great strides. But in a district with such motivated students and encouraging parents, the sky is the limit for our educational system. To that end, I have devised four categories of issues – areas of concern which are essential for Holmdel’s success. I invite you to read where I stand on the various issues, so you are confident in the perspective I intend to bring to the board.
FISCAL ISSUES – Positions which ensure fiscal discipline in the budgetary decisions by the school board, because New Jersey already has the highest property taxes in the nation
LEADERSHIP ISSUES – Positions which end the “revolving door policy” for principals and superintendents, and restores confidence in those who lead the school district
PARENT ISSUES – Positions which provide parents with the confidence needed for a successful education system, because trust is earned in education
STUDENT ISSUES – Positions which maintain fairness and equity in student grading and placement, and make the student environment inviting to success
